Create Your Own Wedding Card Box!
What is a Wedding Card Box?
What is the wedding card box? Exactly what it sounds like! This nifty wedding day staple is a box, almost always embellished for the occasion, that is meant to house cards that guests bring instead of a gift.
These cards often include checks, money or gift cards (Remember, if your guests bring you money as a gift, that‘s fine. But it is NEVER appropriate to ASK for money as a gift). So this box came about to hold onto those cards until they could be collected by the bride and groom, or appropriate members of the family or bridal party. And like many wedding day accessories, this one comes in all shapes and sizes.
Traditional and Modern Wedding Card Box Ideas
Surely you’ve seen the traditional wedding card boxes that look like wishing wells, bird cages and treasure chests? In addition to those, there are more modern variations as well. Some are as simple as they can get, a white cardboard box with a slit at the top for the cards. Others are made out of clear glass with the couples name and date monogrammed on the front. Some of my personal favorites include boxes that look like wedding cakes, or boxes wrapped to look like gorgeous gifts with the card slot visible in the front. People have even used “hot air balloons”, and boxes made out of converted mail boxes. There is a lot of room for creativity here!
Pricing and DIY Options
As you might expect, since there are a variety of types and styles available, there are also a variety of prices for wedding card boxes. They can be found ranging from as low as five dollars for the plainer card board containers, to well over one hundred dollars for the more elaborate custom boxes! Are you a bride who is craving high class creative style but find yourself on a cookie cutter budget? Do you have a certain idea in mind, and can’t find it anywhere? Not a problem.
