Pros: A simple construction for any skill level! Very hard to go wrong, with its slightly compacted design even helping if the roses start to open prematurely.

Cons: The nature of fresh flowers demands that you create the arrangements right before the wedding...ideally the day before. Also, the square vases can get expensive at a regular store, so shop around!

Step 1: You will need a medium square glass vase, fish tank gravel, 9 to 15 roses and a pair of clippers.

Step 2: Begin carefully poring fish gravel into the vase. Tip: Pour the gravel slowly, fairly near to the vase mouth. Any hard object can crack glass if it has just enough force from just the right angle. So be cautious!

Step 3: Fill the vase about 1/3 with the gravel.

Step 4: Fill the vase about 50% full of water.

Step 5: Strip your roses of their foliage and thorns.

Step 6: Your roses should now look like this.

Step 7: Take a single rose and measure it against your vase, holding the rose head just under the vase edge. Take note of where the stem is against the bottom of the vase.

Step 8: Using the clippers, cut the rose stem.

Step 9: Using your first rose as a guide, trim the remaining roses to the same length.

Step 10: Your roses should look something like this. Tip: Keep your cut rose stems in water at all times to avoid possible complications.

Step 11: Begin fitting your roses into the vase. Start in a corner and fill in from there.

Step 12: And you're done! Enjoy your rose centerpiece!
