DIY Rhinestone Wrist Orchid Corsage!

Love the look of an orchid corsage for the ladies you would like to honor on your special day?

Not particularly infatuated with the price tag of the corsages that can range from $18 to $35 a pop in some areas?

Then consider trying this DIY wrist corsage alternative!

Not only will your well loved ladies have glamorous corsages to show off, they’ll get to hang onto their rhinestone bracelets as a wedding day momento.

All the look of a super elegant and expensive corsage at a fraction of the cost.

Step 1: You will need a Phalaenopsis orchid plant that you can harvest the blooms from (single orchid bloom shown here), a wide rhinestone bracelet to act as your wristlet, a piece of foliage with several leaves ( pittosporum shown here), a heavy piece of card stock with holes poked on either side of the center,

a piece of wire, Oasis Floral Adhesive and sticky backed rhinestones (not pictured).

Step 2: Begin by inserting the wire into the rhinestone bracelet in such a way that both sides of the wire come back up through the bracelet, as shown.

Step 3: Proceed to secure the heavy card stock piece with the wire, making sure that the ends of the wire on the top side.

You are creating a base for the foliage and orchid by doing this.

Step 4: Now that you have wired your card stock piece to bracelet, use your Oasis Floral Adhesive to coat the card stock as you see in the photo above.

Make sure that your application is as even as possible and not too close to the edges. Let set for a minute or two until very tacky.

Step 5: Begin placing your pieces of foliage individually around the card stock.

Your goal to to create a rounded effect with the greens that will act as a base for your orchid bloom.

Step 6: You should have something like this.

Step 7: Use your Oasis Floral Adhesive and create a glue dot the size of a nickel in the center of your foliage.

You may dab small dots of glue around that circle to create more security for the orchid bloom.

Step 8: Make sure there is no “stem” on the back of your orchid bloom, then proceed to gently press the orchid into the glue, and delicately press the orchids petals down into the glue dots.

Let this dry for 5 to 10 minutes.

Step 9: When your corsage has had a few minutes to dry, you can attach your sticky backed rhinestones.

Peel them off and gently press them against the petals of the orchid wherever you like for a finished, glittering look.

Step 10: And now you can enjoy your sparkling orchid corsage!

If it is still a day or two from the wedding, place the corsage in a small plastic box if possible (like a cleaned out strawberry container!) and wrap that in a plastic bag.

Store in the vegetable section of the fridge.

Remember to let the wearers know their orchid is delicate and that their bracelet is theirs to keep forever!
